 Post subject: installing blag
PostPosted: Sun Apr 17, 2005 10:15 pm
hey i wanted to first say thanks for blag!. i have 1 problem though. my install works fine, until the end; wherein i get nothing but color lines going across my screen. it is hard to explain except that the only other distro i have had this problem with is "morphix". It installs fine, but at the end it seems to come to some sort of color console or gui (i cant make it out) where i get nothig but horizontal lines lines lines lines. i would assume this is some sort of monitor error?. like i say i am really looking forword to using blag, but i cant figure out what this problem is. i have no probs with "feather linux" or slackware. just blag and morphix. and i really wanna try blag!!!!!!. plz help.
tnx in advance.

You mean at the /very/ end, after you hit "reboot"? If so, can you boot up fine after that? I guess I'd need to know exactly at what step it borks.

It could just be that it doesn't switch from graphical to text mode (if this is after you hit reboot).

yes it installs fine, then it says to reboot in which i do. i then get text based loading of blag (normal), in which eventually it comes to some sort of color console, in which it all turns to horizontal lines. i cant see exactly what it is but i presume its a graphical logon.

Hmm....

Sounds like it is setting a mode that your monitor can't do.

Perhaps you could do a text install then select your monitor in text mode on firstboot. To do a text install type "linux text" at the CD boot: prompt.

Or, you could boot to single user mode and run "system-config-display".

The former solution is probably easiest unless you know linux well.

BLAG has xchat for IRC. It's under "Internet" in the menu (labelled "IRC"). It's installed by default. If for some reason you didn't install it, you can get it by running these commands:

Code:
apt-get update
apt-get install xchat

You can go to the blag room @ irc.indymedia.org #blag

Later,

-Jeff
