GRUB fails to load due to SATA drive?

Hi there,
I've got a problem with GRUB after installation of the latest beta of BLAG.
Fortunately, anaconda recognises my SATA drive, though I choosed to install BLAG to one of my PATA drives. So, no problems during the installation but after the first reboot the system hangs at the GRUB prompt. No keyboard - simply nothing except reset.
The SATA drive correctly appeared in Disk druid as /dev/sda. I was able to assign my WindowsXP installation on /dev/sda1 to GRUB, at least I believed that.
GRUB was installed on /dev/hda. I tried both, the mbr and the root partition.
The onboard RAID controller is a Promise Fasttrek 376. Mobo is Asus A7V8X.
Maybe I could understand that GRUB won't boot my windows but why doesn't it boot BLAG?
Any idea how to fix that?

If you are using /dev/sda drives for your operating system Your are dual booting win xp & blag You will have to load bootloader /dev/sda not/dev/hda ok, so I read /dev/hda are you loading the os on one drive /dev/sda or /dev/hda ?

here is my hdd configuration:
/dev/hda1 +hda2 = BLAG and swap
40GB IBM IDE drive
/dev/hdb is empty
40GB Maxtor IDE drive
/dev/sda1 = 1. winxp(ntfs)
/dev/sda2 = extented partition
/dev/sda3 = 2. winxp(ntfs)
/dev/sda4 = 3. winxp(ntfs)
/dev/sda5 = 1. fat32 partition where my XOSL bootloader resides
/dev/sda6-11 = fat32 partitions
160GB Samsung serial ATA drive on onboard promise raid controller

GRUB lies on /dev/hda1 and is loaded by XOSL.

I have never used the promise controller but the problem looks to be causing the hang do you need that many gigs Running your os on the 160 gigs ? Kinda confusing for most but I tryed many harddrive configs, Sometimes you have to experiment with em' Ha! Running you os on the ata might be best? ( obtw some controllers won,t self boot no bios).
