New kernel, new glibc, new udev, cups, gimp, etc have all been released since 50001. So we're gonna do a respin for 50002.

PONG!

hi jeff - i ran the update / dist-upgrade and installed the new kernel, but i can't boot it. i get:

Code:
Uncompressing Linux...
invalid compressed format (err=2)
                           -- System halted

not sure why. i did the exact same on my home box, and that one works ok. i just have the official blag updates / errate repos enabled in apt.

i'll poke around with it later, meanwhile i can boot the old 2174 kernel fine so it's not a disaster.

cheers

bob

How stable do you believe 50k2 will be?

I was able to reboot without any problems, but it looks like the kernel wasn't updated:

Code:
[saul@localhost ~]$ uname -r
2.6.17-1.2174_FC5
[saul@localhost ~]$

Perhaps I forgot some step?

Strange...I just tried to upgrade the kernel again, and got this:
Code:
[root@localhost ~]# apt-get install kernel#2.6.17-1.2187_FC5
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
kernel#2.6.17-1.2187_FC5 is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 removed and 0 not upgraded.
[root@localhost ~]# uname -r
2.6.17-1.2174_FC5

contents: "grubby fatal error: unable to find a suitable template" means it couldn't find your grub.conf. I'm guessing perhaps you have a few different distros installed (?). So just update grub manually with the new kernel.

noldrin, if you open a bugzilla report and mark it as critical, i'll see if I can get things placed in the menus more to your taste. :)

Hey, Jeb'

I did just like you indicated, so now I have this :

[martin@SPC2 ~]$ uname -r
2.6.17-1.2187_FC5

Works like a charm so far... But the funny thing is I have the choice between Fedora & Blag while I am at the Grub, when booting... Fedora being the new Blag 50k2, and Blag being Blag 50k...

There must be a way to remove the old one,I guess...

Anyway, it looks great !

It is still 50k1 :

[martin@SPC2 ~]$ cat /etc/blag-release
BLAG release 50001 (smack)

Feels like reggae music ;)

Jeff, you're right--I fixed my bootloader and that did the trick.

No problems with the new kernel yet.

Ya, when you upgrade the kernel it says "Fedora" in grub (the kernel is built by fedora). You can edit /boot/grub/grub.conf if you want to change it. ;)

I will do so, but is there a way to remove the old kernel, so I don't have 2 options at Grub ?
