Ok. I've spent the week fighting a number of battles against BLAG59k. One of the major causes of this was the fact that the current FC6 updated kernel accidentally had squashfs left out! This meant when the CD was booted, it would do "can't find CD" at the point where it usually does mediacheck. I thought this was related to my trying to do i686-only kernels/glibc's etc so went down the wrong path for far too many hours... The "solution" was to use the kernel in testing/updates which will be the updated fedora kernel here probably within a week or so.

I finally got it sorted! So now, as of BLAG-59999.27010.iso we have an up-to-date CD, with all the main packages people expect in blag: gnome, audacity, abiword, gnumeric, scribus, etc. It is i686-only, per the other thread in this forum. Now for super good news: its only 644 megs! So we have 50+ megs free even with big packages like cinelerra already on the CD!

So we can start adding more categories of software. I'll go through some other threads to see what should be added. The main focus will be for "proper" /categories/ of software, not other versions of software that duplicate what we already have.

I'll likely have a new update by the time you read this. You can always grab the latest here:

ftp://ftp.blagblagblag.org/pub/BLAG/linux/60000/en/iso

Have fun,

Just to fatten it up, I added lots of neat things, with one that must be a surprise...

diskboot image -- this can be copied to a USB drive to install from, for example

gnome-games
nmap
nmap-frontend

blender
freealut
gettext
openal

fontforge
libuninameslist

gcc
make
kernel-devel
glibc-devel
glibc-headers
libgomp

Removed: ices

I think we have our base packages... Now to fix comps.xml...

Recent changes:

Some cleanups to comps.xml

The comps.xml on the webserver also now has groups, so pirut should look correct now for both 50k and 60k. This also makes it so using the repo enabled in the installer looks purdy.

Add RELEASE-NOTES-en_US.html placeholder (just to see if it appears at all)

libdvdread now from extras, not freshrpms
mpeg2dec now from livna, not freshrpms

images/updates.img added from:
http://people.redhat.com/pnasrat/211941-updates.img
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/sh ... 211941#c72

ADD:
istanbul
thoggen - replaces dvdrip and saves 10.5M http://www.thoggen.net
hasciicam

REMOVE:
gnome-vfs2-ntfs
ntfsprogs

All of these were required for dvdrip! They're now gone:
dvdrip
lsdvd
ogmtools
perl-AnyEvent
perl-Cairo
perl-Coro
perl-Event
perl-Event-ExecFlow
perl-Event-RPC
perl-Glib
perl-Gtk2
perl-Gtk2-Ex-FormFactory
perl-IO-AIO
perl-IO-Socket-SSL
perl-libintl
perl-Net-SSLeay
perl-Tk
subtitleripper
transcode

UPDATE:
anaconda
anaconda-runtime

683M Jan 1 16:10 BLAG-59999.30010.iso

Available on FTP site. :)

Happy new year,

how many total bugs did your developers find and fix
among the 50 or so alpha releases ? That is besides fc updates

Take a look here:

http://bugzilla.blagblagblag.org

It doesn't have everything, but it should give you an idea.

BLAG 59k is currently using /images/updates.img so that should be fixed. And when the next yum comes out, we'll drop updates.img, and roll in yum. So with BLAG there shouldn't be any i586/i686 bug. BLAG just uses i686, so it pretty much /has/ to find that the system is i686.
