I don't mind making a site, I just figured you wanted to do it seeing as it was your idea. Anyways my site design time is kinda packed out these days so I take the paid work as it comes :) I will send the login details your way.

In the incoming folder of the ftp u can listen at the 31 tracks I uploaded and... I'll do just one HTML page to present the BLAG Linux Symphony ^^
jason.blagblagblag.org is a DNS destined to you, not to me, but I can put my tracks in it ^^
ThX

The little HTML page is ready but when I link at (exemple) ftp://anonymous@jason.blagblagblag.org/ ... %2031.mp3/ it doesn't work.
And I must upload the html page on the http i guess...
What's the matter ?

The incoming folder is the one for anonymous users where the songs go. The webroot public_html is not open to public editing. I will send you the user/pass when I get home from work so you can put a page up.

You can either link up a directory level and then drop back down using syntax like this a href="../foldername" or just using PHP includes save yourself the trouble of even having to type out the song names and just display the Apache directory output. Or you could just move the songs into a folder in public_html. I could set up a cron job if you like to run hourlyto move songs from A to B so you don't have to move them? The choice is totally up to you. If you need any help, then I sometimes go to IRC as JLP or you can email me using jasonATblagblagblag.org.

oki; i'll re-upload on the public_html ==) it's simple ^^
and then I'll remake the links in the little html page and upload the page and u, u have to do your website ^^ (music.htm isn't index.htm ^^ and it's jason.blagblagblag.org ; that's better than a music.blagblagblag.org 'cause there are more things inside I presume ^^)
My mail : marceldelajartele@hotmail.com
PS : I just finished compo 38; now the symphony dedicated to BLAG Linux is during 78 minutes ^^

No need to reupload the music. I can move it all with one command which I will do tonight.

I don't have anything planned for jason.blagblagblag.org hence why I originally suggested music.blagblagblag.org. Blogging is not my thing and a homepage is not something I am in dire need of right now. No offence to anyone who has either of them as I know some people like Jeff or Steve have a blog/homepage.

Anything I do manage to contribute to BLAG will be going in the wiki anyways whether it is docs, some sort of how to or anything else. So a website is not on the cards though you will be able to download the music via an index of directory listing.

Oki, that's cool that u move the music ^^
U'll send me the links and i'll send u the html page
Ideas for your website :
- euh... ... ... I don't know ! Hmmm... yeah I know ! Ehm no I don't know... eeeeuh... I KNOW ! You can do a bittorrent tracker to download BLAG Linux saving bandwitch, and u can made a folding@home team, and... oki that's bad... But you can do a guide destined to windoze's users that want to use linux (a guide that explains to them that don't undestand linux how to install a packet, to compile a tar.gz or a tar.bz2...) ==) that would make BLAG Linux more used ^^ and u can talk about yourself ==) http://img10.exs.cx/img10/3254/DSC00141.jpg ==) here is me, Marcel, and my familly

I don't mind anything for BLAG going on there. I won't talk about myself though. A guide for Windows users is a good idea but maybe something that would fit in the wiki?

You don't have to send me the page. I will send you the login. I was supposed to do it last night but I had to get up at 5am for work and just totally forgot.

Maybe a side by side comparison to show people how to do in Linux what they used to do in Windows i.e. email filters from Outlook Express or something. I have shown a ton of people how to set those up in Evolution for instance. I can do anything in Linux I could do in Windows but Linux is so much bigger than Windows really.

All that Linux can't do, it's only windoze's games, and softwares like apache and samba don't exist in Windoze.
Linux is really better than Windoze, but people think that Linux is for "advanced" user
Two months ago I used Windoze and I can say that Linux is as simple as windoze ^^ and more useful ^^
So you move the songs on http and u send me the pass and I access to the http seeing the links to download the tracks, I modify the links of the little html page and I upload.
'not really simple, but I think that'll work ^^

Aye sounds good to me. It will be simple. I will help you if necessary.

One thing to clarify though. Apache is available for Linux. Hell it was based on *nix some time before Windows and it can barely run on Windows hence the use of that waste of time IIS. Apache on Windows isn't even stable at the best of times yet it can run on *nix for ages. I know the BLAG server had over a year of continuous uptime and hell it may be even longer now. Jeff will have toclarify that.

Gaming on XP is as bad as gaming on Linux with Wine in my opinion. Giveit some time and software/hardware vendors will start to realise Linux is actually for them.

Yeah, and ATI drivers for Linux are out.
Linux is better than Windoze, so Linux will win against Windoze ^^
And BLAG Linux is my favourite distro 'cause of the design and the fact that there is only one cd ^^
BLAG is 74th at distrowatch ! we deserve more ! ^^ yeaaaaah !

me wrote:

but windoze can't run more than one week ^^ windoze is for lamerz loool

EDIT : I've just uploaded compo 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39 and 40 in the incoming folder. Don't forget these tracks ^^

Samba doesn't, but Apache does. Also, yes Apache on Windoz is stable now. I've run it for 27 hours before Windows crashed.,.and that was Window's fault, not Apache's, so its fine :P

Personally, I think we do need to have some sort of BLAG -> Windows migration tools. I've already assembled a CD of stuff for people who switch from Windows to BLAG.

It includes things like:

aMSN
a WinXP style theme (eXperience 1.2, modified by me so it works correctly in GNOME 2.4)
OpenOffice.org
flash player for linux
java for linux
SuperTux (great game :) )
Azureus

I think we should make something like this and call it 'BLAG beats Windows Pack'

:D

I can definitly help if we want to do something like this...if anybody else is interested, just e-mail me, or get me on #blag @ irc.indymedia.org. FYI, my e-mail is skateboard@e-garfield.com

Yeah, a BLAG version destined to Windoze's users ^^
that's a great idea !
OOo , flash, hava, azureus are great.
but gAIM is much better that aMSN, but for windoze's users I think we must put this log. SuperTux and eXperience ==) I don't know

BLAG beats Windows pack ^^ YEAAAAH !
We can do that !
jason.blagblagblag.org will be useful ^^
