Ya, I didn't send out info about the liveCD nor is the website linking to it. It's just a file sitting on an ftp server right now. ;)
Jason, cool, re: mac. Thanks for the info. :)
There is a working live CD of 80k alpha on the ftp server too. The regular CD of 80k alpha just hangs at "Transferring install image to hard drive".

I've been reading about installation problems with Fedora 8, so it might be something wonky with them.

I do have 80k alpha installed on my main laptop now. I did it using the liveCD and adding "--noselinux" to the anaconda command line in /usr/sbin/liveinst. So 80k alpha is installable, just a bit of a pain at the moment. 80k itself is very nice though :)

I download the 80K live iso but had problem burning the image to CD as they were all over 700 Mb in size.....any chance of trimming down the size to fit standard CD.
Would love to try 80K because I just love living on the edge....as you already know jebba ;)

Well, ya, trimming it down is part of the plan... :) You can burn it to a DVD if you have that available.

Thanks, I hope I wasn't too presumptuous in my edits, but I figured that the wiki should reflect the policy of suggest free software suggestions whenever possible, and non free software if no free software solution exists, and then pick the best of the bad choices.

Hello all, I had to come back to try out 70k. As usual, it's excellent. I've installed it on my new acer laptop. I've got wireless working with an ralink pc card wireless card. The built in card is an atheros but it doesn't seem to work with madwifi. I haven't been able to get it to work on any distro, so I didn't even try with this one. But the ralink works with the rt61 driver, which is free software. Everything's running beautifully.
I've got a crummy little podcast called the Linux Install Podcast where I do live installs of different distros. My next podcast will be on Blag 70000. I don't have a huge fan base, but maybe it will increase some interest in Blag. I won't be able to do it until I fix a little technical problem that I've run into. But I hope to do it some time after New Year's day.
