|
|
I'm going to start splitting posts into new threads now when it seems appropriate. We have lots of thread topics about one thing when the topic has diverged to something else. This will make it easier for people looking for info to find it. I suggest other do admins this too.

No need to be sorry about anything. It's just a way to better organize things.

i realise that it's a better way to organise things, but i must admit, i've been one of the guilty parties expanding on threads already started.

Oh and i tried to add a few well-known-names around here as moderators (without asking their permission, of course) but phpbb spit some sql error at me. jason? Sorry to bug you just when i'm breaking something as the forums have been working really well and are really clean.

Yeah I will fix it. What users do you want as moderators? I will do a bit of SQL coolness to do it manually.
This is a *very* hacked up version of phpBB to keep spam out (works doesn't it) and also to keep it secure.
I have been guilty of being lazy working on keeping the user end of the forums working for everyone while neglecting us poor admins lol.

Well i was setting up extraspecialbitter when it wasn't working so i didn't try any more. His apparently DID go thru though. But now its too late for me to remember. ;) How about the other way: any one else want to moderate to help actually organize the forums (ala wiki-esque)? If so ping me (moe@blagblagblag.org), jason (jason@blagblagblag.org), or just post here.

It has 100% killed all spam. I wish it worked for my email.

I got a pretty neat spam killing system on this server. Sure it uses that WHM/cPanel blah for the front end but it I configured the exim.conf. Before I cofigured it, I was getting perhaps 800-1500 or so spam email per day. Now I get between 0 and 5 maximum. I feel so unloved now no one is offering me free bank accounts abroad, viagra and telling me I am a millionaire lol. Not sure what mail system you got but feel free to look in /etc/exim.conf on this server. Don't change anything though it will break things :)
