Yup, it's me again, and I >still< use Verizon DSL.

There are several DNS choices available to me... I think 4.2.2.1~6. Sometimes, like now :) "looking up" takes a L O N G time. Is there an "easy way" to find which DNS is working best at any given time?

Thanks for reading.

try pinging them?

Just be happy you are not using windows. It will grab onto one DNS server and hold on to it, even if it's dead in the water.

Personally I'd like to see a more aggressive DNS for the end user. Perhaps ask all the listed servers and use which comes back first. For a bonus it could error log when results don't match in order to help protect against hijacks.

Actually "ping" showed stellar performance across the board, and equal.

I am now trying the suggested alternates.

I am here to tell you that your choice of DNS locations seems to function VERY well. Thank you very much.
