Jeff and/or triangle,
Thanks a mil for your advise. Per your suggestions, I allocated some free time to familiarize myself with synaptic.
It took a while for me to get the hang of it, but I was finally able to install hundreds of additional packages, after realizing how to add blag server links correctly.
Now, I'm still curious about something .......... is it possible to install individual downloaded packages via synaptic, minus blag/linux servers & directly from one's own hard drive? After installing blag for the first time on my pc, I downloaded Mplayer(tar) and attempted to install it via the redhat 9 Rpm command set. No dice! I'm familiar with dependency issues, but that didn't seem to be the case. I typed the unpacking/install commands as dictated by the infamous linux documentation project, let me tell ya.......... I might as well have typed in japanese. Later, I was able to obtain mplayer via synaptic. Yet, for future reference, when it comes to downloading packages from ftp & http sites, i wonder........................
