Previously, I had the "F" from "Flash Block". Now, if I click on a video link, I get what looks like a player opening up, but then it never plays. I will have about 30-60 seconds of CPU usage climbing to 70%, and then some text in the field where the video should have played. |
Gnash doesn't work everywhere yet. One of the reasons it works on youtube is the developers specifically developed towards it so it would. Yahoo is an extra pain to get anything compatible with it, I don't know what crack monkey developers they got working for them. They are trying to be better, but it still often sucks to try and play things you should be able to, this can be true for simple video files too.

Actually, although Youtube was working with Gnash (mostly) up until fairly recently. I can't get anything to work on Youtube at all now.
Anybody else having the same problem? Gnash does work with other sites.

Yeah, I've heard that YouTube has "upgraded" their videos so that they require flash 9. So after struggling to be youtube compatible, gnash doesn't work with it any more because it emulates flash 7/8. Bummer...

There's a package in the repo called `youtube-dl` then with that you can play the videos with mplayer.
