BLAG is a 100% Free Software distribution with all the tools you want from a desktop computer, plus more. It comes on a single CD (only 606 megs!), is easily installed, and user friendly.
It has been awhile since I've sent out an announcement, but quite a bit has happened since our last release, 70000. Alpha releases based on Fedora 8 and 9 made regular appearances.
Linux-libre, a project to make a branch of the Linux kernel with non-free software removed, has flourished. This is the first "major" release of BLAG to include this kernel by default. Upstream (read: Linus) is now making moves to make it easier so everyone can have a truly free kernel. They're not there yet, but they are advancing and will hopefully make this separate kernel unnecessary real-soon-now. But until they do, we'll have linux-libre. :)
We have a new repository tracking Fedora rawhide, with always the latest and greatest, it's BLAGHEAD: Software from the Future.

It is recommended to do fresh installs from 70k, not upgrades as it can potentially cause chaos. (Well, which is fine if you like chaos)

Known chaos:
* It is recommended to use yum instead of apt, for now. I had generally recommended apt in the past.
* mplayer is hosed due to using freshrpm's x264 instead of livna's
* after firstboot, you may have to hit ctrl-alt-f7 to get X to go. A reboot will also bring up X ok (like right after you add the user the first time).
* Upgrading is most chaotic of all. Fresh installs are recommended. I put a bit of text on doing upgrades using apt instead of the CD. This doc is based on the BLAGHEAD doc and then the 90000 alpha doc and needs some help. If someone could fix it up that would be greatly appreciated:

* selinux=0 isn't getting passed to the kernel boot line. I knew this before and let it slide after discussions on fedora-devel about it. I think in the future I'll re-add it (and do quiet too).
* no automajick blagblagblag installs

Is it just the GPG issue or more? I love the apt and not sure I'd attempt BLAGHEAD without it.
I had no problems with getting into X on first boot.
I had heard that Fedora is no longer letting users choose on install to not use selinux.

Correct, they have removed the option to disable selinux from the installer.

My attempt at upgrading 70k -> 90k via CD left me with the nash mash also.
However when I got to the stage of "mv /boot/initrd-2.6.25.9...... it fails. In my /boot initrd I have25-14 and 25. 3-18.

Ya, you'll just have to mv the initrd that is set as the default in grub.conf and generate a new one.

The two releases have had the side effect of driving up Distrowatch's hit count for BLAG. Over the past 7 days, BLAG is at #26 - between MEPIS and KNOPPIX. :^)
