I'm thinking of getting a sound card to replace onboard audio, which works fine but doesn't have all the options I'm used to from my trusty SB Live card. (Sadly, this motherboard does not like the SB card, My guess is it's a pci voltage thing, since the SB card is almost 10 years old.)

Does the switch to the libre kernel affect sound support at all? I don't know if the research I'm doing on linux compatible cards will apply to BLAG or not.

Any recommendations for basic pci 2.2 compliant cards that work are welcome too.

Thanks.

-libre removes a bit of soundcard support but not much:

#########################
# Removed Sound Drivers #
#########################
SND_CS46XX - Cirrus Logic (Sound Fusion)
SND_KORG1212 - Korg 1212 IO
SND_MAESTRO3 - ESS Allegro/Maestro3
SND_YMFPCI - Yamaha YMF724/740/744/754

I dont think alexandre has added anything to the list, but i didnt confirm that.

Thanks Jeff. The cards I'm looking at should still be OK then.
