Yes, i read that article when lwn put it up. freeeee is already booting pretty fast, but not 5 seconds fast.

Some of their concepts might eventually make it to fedora, although I doubt we'll see 5 seconds as standard.

Si. The subject is a bit misleading in that. "Total hack boots in 5 seconds" is a bit more apt. Attacking rc.sysinit with # can go a long ways ;)
They also aren't (presumably) counting the BIOS, which is a huge chunk of time. Perhaps if coreboot becomes a bit more commonplace we'll see that time shrink.
