Can you at least grab the files from the system? if you can then a fresh install is a goer so long as you are happy with that. From what I recall the /boot partition should not be part of lvm but yours was not.
When you do install it may help to have all of your disks attatched to the machine so that they get detected and configured. Also this may help to ensure that /boot and / get mounted at boot time.
