I heard that Microsoft has contributed code to the Linux Kernel. Does anyone have an opinion on this. Other than the general feeling of not trusting Microsoft is this a good thing? Did pigs just fly?

It's not really too surprising that Microsoft is contributing code to Linux (in this case). The code in question has to do with their Hyper-V hypervisor. Should Microsoft not make Linux work fully with this hypervisor, they would essentially give up any chance of having their product be successful in the marketplace, making their only sane solution to make sure that Linux works with Hyper-V.
Still, I never though I'd see the day Microsoft would release code under the GPL.
