Blag questions.

Some of these maybe obvious but I'll ask the anyway, Some are tongue in cheek but the answers will be helpful to new users.

Can Blag be based on Debian is it's seems more independent, has a scocial contract etc.

Why fedora based?

who are the current developers

What is blags legal structure? Does it have one, is the blag name copyrighted, if so whose the copyright holder? Jeff Moe? should it be.

Blag naming will it stay the same (Fedora version and 3 zeros) Nick name?

The mono question. Will it be included in Blag by default

Will it be based on gnome3 shell and Lxde? as the vote seems tied ?

Will it be one CD or Two?

If one will there be a choice as to which environment you want on boot?

What is the preferred licence for software. GPL3, GPL2, BSD. etc.

What is the preferred licence for documents.

What is the preferred licence for artwork.

What architectures will be supported

What are the implications of being an FSF approved free-distro

Does blag offer help to users that need non-free to give their system basic functions if there is no free-version? sound X11

Does blag offer help to users that need non-free to give their system advanced functions if there is no free-version? flash 3d Skype etc.

edit: I guess a lot of answers to the commonly asked questions would be in blags History. Who knows it or where is it documented? Is it. Or is it spread around.

What is the position on possible patent encumbered software. i.e. DVD decryption mpeg4 mp3 etc. especially with Blag being a FSF free distro and it's servers based in the USA.

I'll add more.later

Why fedora based?

BLAG started as a Fedora based distribution. There are a number of distros that are based on Debian, which will include, gNewSense 3, but BLAG was targeted specifically as an rpm based distro. I hope this answers the first two questions.

who are the current developers

The original team of contributors consist of the current developers. That would include: r7, renilgh, stevo32, Jason, jayeola, weyasey, kazim, and several others who maintain key areas of BLAG's infrastructure.

What is blags legal structure? Does it have one, is the blag name copyrighted, if so whose the copyright holder? Jeff Moe? should it be.

One of the developers can answer this better than I can

Blag naming will it stay the same (Fedora version and 3 zeros) Nick name?

Yes. It will. I created a post under development where people can provide suggestions

The mono question. Will it be included in Blag by default

Mono is not intended to be in BLAG by default

Will it be based on gnome3 shell and Lxde? as the vote seems tied ?

BLAG will be based on GNOME 2.8. During the install process, including a feature that allows a lightweight desktop to be installed was discussed

Will it be one CD or Two?

As always, BLAG will be one CD

If one will there be a choice as to which environment you want on boot?

In terms of environment can you be more specific

What is the preferred licence for software. GPL3, GPL2, BSD. etc.

The preferred licenses will be both GPLv2 and GPLv3.

What is the preferred licence for documents.

BLAG will utilize a free license for documents

What is the preferred licence for artwork.

BLAG will utilize a free license for artwork

What architectures will be supported

The focus on BLAG 120kwill be on 32-bit x86. According to the build process we probably can expand as needed to other platforms.

What are the implications of being an FSF approved free-distro

The guidelines for all Free Distros can be provided here:

http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/free-syst ... lines.html

Does blag offer help to users that need non-free to give their system basic functions if there is no free-version? sound X11

BLAG will offer help in providing a solution that uses free software

Does blag offer help to users that need non-free to give their system advanced functions if there is no free-version? flash 3d Skype etc.

BLAG does not support helping users install non-free software.

edit: I guess a lot of answers to the commonly asked questions would be in blags History. Who knows it or where is it documented? Is it. Or is it spread around.

Individuals interested in BLAG's history can view the BLAGpedia located at:

Some information is in the process of being updated.

For patent encumbered software as you mentioned, these will not be included in BLAG. It is not our goal to include packages that could expose the FSF or any other organization to any legal liability or integrity that is stated in the Guidelines for Free Software Distributions.

I'll add more.later
