|
|
Good Day BLAG Users,
I updated the BLAGAPEDIA Repository page with instructions on adding a Linux-libre repo to Fedora 12 based on a question that was asked today on the #blag IRC channel. I set this up for the first time last week, so I hope this helps anyone who is interested in using a free kernel. I also added a Linux-libre page to the BLAGAPEDIA as well. Please feel free to make any edits to those pages if you want to contribute your own ideas, create new pages that might be helpful to new users. If you have questions, post them here, use the IRC channel and mailing list to get help.

Thank you. By the way, it would probably be more convenient to refer to "http" rather than "https" in the links, like Repository and
Linux-libre. My browser gives "Page load error" on the "https" versions.

No problem. I am glad it could help. Thanks for letting me know about the secure connection. What browser were you using?

Epiphany with JavaScript disabled. probably a bug of the browser: lynx works fine with the https links, it just tells it can't check the site identity.

Good Day All,
Today, when I went to update packages on my system, I noticed that the Gnome Packagekit Update Viewer displayed the Linux-libre kernel as an update based on having the repo added from my original post. It was the first time I saw it there since I posted the information on the wiki and just wanted to get verification if others saw the same. The packages updated successfully without any errors

After I installed the 120k Alpha, I manually added a kernel-libre.repo file (see here for more details). When updating in textmode using yum, it automatically picked up the latest kernel.
