I have installed the i386 on blag 11999.
From what I saw, works nicely!

Sweet;-)
I've done a few alien builds for 64-bit, and they also worked well for me. But I prefer to test and support Koko's proper builds, as alien is a bit of a cheat;-)

I wouldn't cal it cheating, but rather ... "exploring" ;-)

Successfully built an Icecat rpm for i686 using Kokos spec file from:
http://kokolekoala.toile-libre.org . Seems to be running fine on my
machine. Please test:

All thanks to Koko!:)

Hey, veganix, good work :)

Did you change anything into my spec file? Or did you use it "as it"?

Used it "as is". Thanks for the work:-)
Had to place an icecat icon and an icecat-3.6.3.desktop file in /SOURCES for it to compile properly. After compiling it occured to me that I could have copied a working .desktop file from 64-bit, but mine seems to work ok:-)

For reference, these are the requirements for the build:

- wireless-tools-devel
- development tools (yum groupinstall "Development Tools")
- rpmdevtools
- fedora-bookmarks
- xulrunner-devel
- desktop-file-utils

- icecat.png
- icecat-3.6.3.desktop

New version uploaded now: https://we.riseup.net/blag/icecat-i686- ... 119k+56292

Basically the same build, just using Kokos .desktop file for a cleaner menu entry. If you are happily running the previous version, there should be no reason to install again:)

yay, trying it on my updated system now.

It said it imported my bookmarks but it actually didn't. It imported a lot, but not everything. Unsorted bookmarks and LiveBookmarks seem to be missing. All the cool old BLAG-Bookmarks are gone as well.
But i still have them in FF and could export them. Perhaps we should include them in our build again?

Another thing: Can we get rid of the default search engines like google, yahoo, answers and... amazon and ebay? It's the internets, I'm not here for shopping.
I think there are replacement available for the ctrl+k searchbox like scroogle, ixquick et al.

Thanks,

Agree with both your points, we should bring back the BLAG bookmarks and drop the commercial search engines.
When we discussed it on IRC, it seemed that scroogle and ixquick were the most popular engines. Maybe we should also add stuff like creative commons and librivox, plus BLAG-friendly places like libcom and indymedia. We could have a poll on the forum and include 5-10 of the most popular.

Bookmark handling changed in FF/Icecat around 3.5, and personal bookmarks are stored in the places.sqlite file. Not quite sure how to to change/add bookmarks and search engines in the build, but I can probably figure it out. I guess search engines are somewhere in the source and bookmarks can be added by a BLAG equivalent to the fedora-bookmarks package.

Yes, the old bookmarks listing was quite handy, I actually saved a copy of it for reference on a thumb drive for when using other machines.

IceCat version 3.6.8-1blag is uploaded on riseup now, both for x86 and x86_64. Junichiro will get it onto the BLAG fsf server. Commercial search engines are replaced by scroogle, anarchopedia, libcom, etc. Give us a shout if you wish for more/other engines:)
