Hi everyone,

After 5 days of hard work, finally an iso is avialable for blag i686. I'll upload the x86_64 version later today.

Download it here : http://www.zenblagger.org/blaggers/Blag ... a-i686.iso and please report the bugs :)

So I finally came around to testing it on my EEE.
Runs like a charm, good out-of-the-box experience, nice artwork chosen.
Seeing this makes me very happy and I would really like to thank you for making this real.

So far I spotted one thing that didn't work:
Code:
apt-get update
exits with error
Code:
E: Unable to determine version for package fedora-release
.

Hope I'll have the time to investigate further soon.

Again, thanks a lot. It feels right. Please don't stop. (:

I think I'm the Guinea pig, so I played it.
-Installation without problem;
-at login and then it is not blag theme by default but fedora one; and after changing to blag fedora theme stay at login;
-language installation without problem;
-seems to be conflict with blag release package and rpmfusion repo;
-when adding linux-libre repo, same conflict.
So for linux-libre repo, just replace F-$releaseserver by F-14 in /etc/yum.repos.d/linux-libre.repo
For rpmfusion, I removed it manually and tried installing it as said for fedora. It didn't work because of same conflict (blag release package). So I made my own rpmfusion.repo file like this:
Code:
[rpmfusion]
name=RPMFUSION
baseurl=http://mirror.cse.iitk.ac.in/rpmfusion/free/fedora/releases/14/Everything/x86_64/os/
enabled=1
gpgcheck=0

And it works! So I'll add the rpmfusion update one.
So you see, there is a few things to do and then build blag own repo.
I think we may include linux-libre kernel in blag repo; but since it'll be on fsf server we'll have to let rpmfusion packages outside.

For rpmfusion update:
Code:
[rpmfusion-update]
name=RPMFUSION-UPDATE
baseurl=http://mirror.cse.iitk.ac.in/rpmfusion/free/fedora/updates/14/x86_64/
enabled=1
gpgcheck=0

Maybe you'll have to do:
Code:
#yum clean all
#yum makecache

Of course if you're running a i686 blag you have to adapt it.

A million thanks, Koko - your hard work really paid off!
Installed the x86_64 iso yesterday, and it works near perfectly:)
The only bugs I have noticed so far, are the same as Junichiro had above - havent tried updating with apt yet.

To fix the rpmfusion bug I did - as root, for my architecture:

Code:
cd /etc/pki/rpm-gpg

then
Code:
ln -s RPM-GPG-KEY-rpmfusion-free-fedora-x86_64 RPM-GPG-KEY-rpmfusion-free-fedora-139k-x86_64

and
Code:
ln -s RPM-GPG-KEY-rpmfusion-free-fedora-x86_64 RPM-GPG-KEY-rpmfusion-free-fedora-14-x86_64

I guess my buggy base rpms are to blame for the GPG error, sorry;)

Ok, guys, for the gdm theme bug, I know, and the reason is really simple : no one ever cooked a gdm theme :) I'll try to fix it in the week.

For the rpm problems, there are 2 possibilities :
1. include those repos by default
2. Do what jebba did and copy the repos contents on the blag servers.

What would you suggest?

By the way, normally, rpmfusion and linux-libre repos should be included by default on the alpha iso :s

Ok, alpha2 released!

Changes :
- bluefish editor added
- the distribution should be fully blag-ified, at least the live cd, and the installation should be partially blag-ified.
- Correction of a few minor bugs

Here go a few things I noticed during installation of Alpha 2 on my EEE 701:
These are mostly just notes we could come back to later for future improvement. Things that should be changed before the final BLAG release are preceeded by a bigger -.

- fullscreen anaconda is nice (especially on a tiny screen as the eee's) but it would be even nicer if there was some information indicating the possibilty to minimize the installer or switch to another workspace. people might want to consult some online documentation or communicate with knowledgable people during setup.

- The Forward button on the first page of the Firstboot menu could not be seen on the eee's screen due the size of the BLAG-star. (minor, exceptional issue obviously)

-- The License information in Firstboot still refers to Fedora instead of BLAG

- The Create User page can't be seen beyond the Advanced button (exceptional problem)

The screen size issue could be marginialized by supplying the information that it's possible to naviagte between the Firstboot steps with the F11 (back) and F12 (forward) buttons.

-- The screen remains lit and on. The Screensaver only gets shown on the first user input after it's activation.

- I would also love to have more blaggerisque pictures during the installation. (:

-- rpmfusion-free key doesn't work

Awesome work. Alpha2 was even from usb much faster than the installed GnewSense on this box and I'm amazed how well it runs now with a full GNOME desktop installed.

Thank you for your report renilgh.

You mean getting these infos on anaconda itself?

Ok, so we need to reduce its size. And see if it still works

Oops... need to change that :)

I guess it comes from fedora itself. I had that problem when installing f14, we should do a bug report on fedora's bugzilla.

Normally, there's no screensaver by default, the computer just shut downs the monitor. But I guess this too comes from fedora

Don't know if it's possible...

rpmfusion-free key doesn't work

Problem will be solved on the beta release

This solution worked for me!

Here is another thing I noticed today:

We are still getting the official Firefox build from the Fedora repos. This one is also pulled in by the mozilla-plugins (like mozilla-noscript).
Would be nice to have replacements for these plugin-packages and keep the FF package out.
