Refer to article by Dag Wiers on mixing repos http://dag.wieers.com/home-made/apt/FAQ.php#D . I normally use the blag's repo as it's the default one. Are there any safe combinations or bad ones? For reference I'm using 29k with the default settings in /etc/apt/sources...

You can mix repos a bit, but don't do a 'dist-upgrade' against them or you may get a mess. BLAG should be compatible in general with Dag, FreshRPMs, ATrpms, Dries, newrpms, fedora extras, and to a limited extent CCRMA.

It may make upgrades a bit more difficult, but the base should be fine. After an upgrade (say to 50k), you'll have to hunt down your particular apps from those repos and get them re-added.

If I can come up with a good mechanism, I'd like to mirror as many packages from those above repos as is possible...

Do you mean don't do a dist-upgrade against an improper mix of repos, or against any of them even if compatible?

Jeff's trying to tell you to stick to the blag repository for dist upgrade. You can do what you want its your machine... But you will get major changes if you change the default upgrade trust me on this one. :D

i just migrated to BLAG (29k 00043) from xp, and am really enjoying getting to grips with it.

but, after i added planetccrma to etc/apt/sources.list.d and ran apt-get upgrade & update, as well as installing loads of audio apps, i noticed apt wasn't scanning the BLAG, dries, dag, freshrpms, or any other repositories except planetccrma anymore. i guess i know why now, but how do i get to fix this?

my etc/apt/sources.list.d/blag.list reads:
# rpm http://www.blagblagblag.org/ 30000/i386 os updates errata
# rpm http://www.blagblagblag.org/ 30000/i386 extras

any advice would be greatly appreciated...

Your apt from blag probably got replaced by CCRMA's apt. You can uncomment the blag.list lines above by removing the #'s.
