BLAG30000 Series Features
========================

BLAG is a single CD GNU/Linux distribution based on Fedora
Core 3. It includes everything a desktop user would "expect"
on a system and more. It has common server packages and handy
utils that admins like.

Package Management
------------------
apt - Great way to automatically update your system, or add new packages.
apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade
apt-get update && apt-get install [my favorite package]
synaptic - Nice graphical front-end to apt. Install more software
using ATrpms/DAG/Dries/FreshRPMS/newrpms repositories!
rpm - RedHat Package Manager
yum - yum update, yum install, etc.

Audio & Video
-------------
streamtuner - Tune into Internet radio stations
streamripper - and rip what you're tuned to
audacity (and others) for sound editing with lots of plugins
mplayer and xine for video playback
ALSA - Advanced Linux Sound Architecture
dvgrab - Use DV camera and download movies
kino - Basic video editor
effectv - Cool realtime video effects
MuSE - DJ your own Internet radio station
grip - Rip CDs into mp3 or ogg files
gtkpod - iPod manager
hasciicam - ASCII art video conferencing :)))
perl-dvd-rip - Rip DVDs
xmms - Music (mp3, aac, ogg) player, with BLURSK screen effects

vsftpd - ftp daemon
postfix - SMTP
imap - 143/tcp
openssh - of course
nfs...

Kernel
------
BLAG includes the latest Fedora kernel at time of release.

Automajick installs
-------------------
You can do a "regular" install by booting off the CD, hitting enter,
and going through the steps. Or, if you want to do it quickly on a system
that is blag-only, you can do an automajick install.

Four categories: miniblag, deskblag, serverblag, and blagblagblag
allow you to install the distro without having to answer /any/
questions or configure anything.

Hit F6 at boot: for more details. It will AUTO-ERASE your system.

miniblag is the smallest install at less than 350 Megs.
deskblag installs a Gnome desktop with all the typical apps
serverblag installs all the server daemons but no GUI
blagblagblag installs everything on the CD

Automajick upgrades from CD
---------------------------
Type "upgrade" at the "boot:" prompt of the CD.
Or you can use the "regular" upgrade steps, by hitting <enter>
at the boot: prompt of the CD.

After upgrading, optionally, run these commands as root to get things
good & in sync (needs 'net connection):
apt-get update
apt-get -f install
apt-get dist-upgrade

Developers DVD
--------------
A developers DVD, which includes all BLAG, all Fedora, all source,
and other goodies is available.

I have a feeling that this will be the greatest BLAG release to date...we've come a long way since 9002..

btw, it looks like i'll roll a beta 3 real quick and then do final, say on 4-20?

The reason for the next beta is that there is a new kernel, glibc, & xfce, all of which are pretty huge...
