Hi guys,
I use the Compaq nx9005 laptop. It should be called a frying pan as it gets very hot. Last night I was looking at one of my bash log in scripts and the thing just clicked and turned itself off! Never done that before. I was online at the time so my (paranoid) mind initially attributed this to some spotty little 12 year old in Thialand.
Has this happened to anyone else before?

Newer processors have the ability to shut the system down if they think they are over heating. They protect themselves from completely frying.
Perhaps it reached too high of a temperature and then shutdown.
I doubt it was a cracker. ;)
