I hope this is the right forum for this question about packages.
First off, is this the proper place to make package requests, and are such suggestions/requests appropriate given the time/manpower you have to invest in this project?
If so, packages I would love to see added to your repos:
Jahshaka - an early beta of what could turn into a great video editor - the project is getting some backing from HP, and others, but it's young - right now it's video only, audio is not working yet.
Cinepaint and Glasgow - more powerful branches of The Gimp - not sure if Glasgow has been released, but it's imminent.
PiTiVi - early beta, something to watch for now - video editing package
kdenlive - I'm not sure if this is a branch of Lives, or what, but it's undergoing a major rewrite right now - something to watch
Audacity - audio editor with lots of potential
Blender - 3D animation package - very advanced, used in Hollywood
Perhaps you already know about these, perhaps some are already available, perhaps some have been rejected, or perhaps you just don't enough time in the day.....
I do have a question about your Cinelerra package - is this packaged from the Heroine Virtual site, or this the one from CVS? I mean the one from http://cvs.cinelerra.org/

I'm pretty sure Audacity has come stock on the CD in past releases of blag (I don't know about 49k/50k), and Blender/Cinepaint were in the repos.
And... this is the place where you can make the requests for the others in the upcoming release:

As soon as I made that post and checked it, I noticed the sticky "suggestion box" you refer to in the above link at the top of the development forum list - another lesson in "look before you leap" - thanks for your response

I've looked at this a number of times over the last few years. It looks interesting, but quite a pain to stuff in to an RPM.

cinepaint was even on the CD way back when, but there wasn't much demand for it. It also looks like no one has been maintaining it, but I haven't checked up on it in awhile. I've never heard of glasgow.

Never heard of it. URLs would be convenient. :)

Not familiar with it.

Has been on the CD for a long time (since blag9k?).

Was on the CD at one point, is now in the repo. Oh, someone requested yafray or something. Hmm. Bugzilla? :)

I'm just using freshrpm's build which I think he got from CVS. He has a newer package of it too, that I don't think i've put in the repo yet.

Yes - it's not ready. Not worth spending much time on right now. Glad you're keeping an eye on it.

It's discussed here: http://www.cinepaint.org/
Looks like they're aiming for end-of-month release.
I got cinepaint running on my blag box without issue - it's a logical part of a full video production suite, which I hope to see in Linux before long.

Sure. Here you go: http://pitivi.sourceforge.net/
Again, not ready for prime-time - worth keeping an eye on...

Not familiar with it.
Here's a link: http://kdenlive.sourceforge.net/index.php
It's being ported to the mlt framework - seems to be in intensive development - worth watching...

Sorry - I guess I missed it...

Repo is fine for me - again, I must have missed it...

I'm subbed to the cvs.cinelerra list - there is intense development going on these days - it's got some way to go, but it seems the most promising of the projects out there.
Thanks for the detailed responses!
