This release has a new kernel.

Also updates autofs & mathml-fonts.

Will new nvidia drivers have to be matched to the
new kernel?

If you are using binary drivers, yes (uh, I think). If you are using Free drivers (included in blag), no.

I'm using the drivers that came with 49999.000051.

I've been doing apt-get update then upgrade then
dist-upgrade reqularly. I haven't seen anything to do
with nvidia or the kernel yet.

I have been wondering if my apt-get habits will keep
my system up to par with your releases as they come
along, rather than my having to download/burn and
install the newest iso.

ya, running this regularily will keep you up-to-date, just make sure that it doesn't say it's gonna remove a bunch of stuff or you could get in trouble. ;) It asks to verify first:

Code:
apt-get update
apt-get dist-upgrade

That will upgrade everything /except/ the kernel. To upgrade your kernel to the latest one (as of today) run:

Code:
apt-get update
apt-get install kernel#2.6.16-1.2133_FC5
