everything is working fine {blag 30000} except that mplayer cannot play dvd movies. it say something something like ''codec not found'', but xine plays well. i thought that those media player shares codecs -right?.

anyway, that is not big issue. how do i get kaffeine player installed, apt-get does not get it and yum is the same story. i would like it especially the new version because it supports hauppage dvb-card. most distros released recently have it installed

Try setting mplayer video preferences first... xv X11/xv Mplayer will play dvd's just fine no problems here. Also just a note insert dvd right click Mplayer screen select > playing >play 8)

In fact Mplayer is not really recommended for playing DVDs because it needs more ressources than other sofwares.
On my mind the best DVD reading tool is Ogle (It can only do that).

I think it is in BLAG repository.

Hmm, I use mplayer for DVDs no prob. Perhaps you want these bits:

Code:
apt-get update
apt-get install libdvdcss libdvdnav libdvdread

xine is also on the blag CD. It plays DVDs as well. It handles DVD menus better than mplayer.
