Perhaps its the beer, the beer and the heat, but I am trying to use gnome-print-manager to add a printer, and I cant find a "new" button on it. Anywhere. I could have sworn last time I did it from there...
Any ideas? Are there other tools to use. What if the printer is not detected, eg if I need to load drivers. What tool do you use to add a printer? Help!

behold the screenshot. http://hipnosi.net/pub/printer1.png
When I use the new button, and scan devices, I get nothingk. If I enter lp0 as the device (the paralell port) it tells me its "not writeable".
Thje printer is a parallel port samsung smartjet, circa 2001.

Make sure parallel port is turned on in the BIOS.
Perhaps parallel module isn't loaded(?)
| Code: | modprobe parport
modprobe parport_pc |
Maybe parport_cs too (don't recall offhand what that module is).
