/me throws his support behind TightVNC. Works well, refreshes better, works nicely on high-latency, low-bandwidth connections. It's like LAME vs. standard mp3 encoder.
Thanks,
Stephen Clement

I vote tightvnc too much faster than normal vnc you also have full screen and better resolution too.

BLAGNX Crack
=============
Ahh, this is the only thing I think about now. Perhaps it will be myBLAG, BLAGme, blagOVERTHERE, or NETBLAGSD (Network BLAG Linux And GNU Super Disco).

i REALLY like this idea =D, and enlightenment in the repos (current versions) would be very nice since i know there is no point putting somthing that isnt stable on the cd.
oh and i really liked this idea

How about a converter for audio formats (APE, OGG, etc)?
I new to blag, but I've been trying to install gnormalize (http://gnormalize.sourceforge.net/) on 30003. No luck so far, but perhaps this or something similar might be a good idea for 50k?
I hope it might be possible to install it without the non free parts, like mp3 / ape (I don't know how free ape is, currently), leave them for the user to install if needed.

mplayer, sox, lame, and others can do audio format conversions. They don't have GUIs though...

The posts about audio conversion reminded me to ask--any chance xvidcap will be in the 50k repo (or could it be added)? Not sure BLAG has a tool for capturing audio/video from the screen.
I know it's not the most stable package but there aren't many options for linux. I haven't been able to run CamStudio under wine (and it's only free as in beer, so I'd rather not anyway).
Thanks.

I'll look into xvidcap. I've used it in the past. If you bugzilla it, it'll help make sure it doesn't get lost.

I don't know VNC, nor have I researched or read about it (yet).
but..
I've always been using RDESKTOP .. I fell in love with RDESKTOP back in december 2005 when I got my very first linux experience on DamnSmallLinux.
On BLAG30003, I simply open up a Terminal and type in rdesktop 192.168.0.xx

Try typing "tsclient" without the quotes of course, when the apps start change the protocol from RDP to VNC and try it but you need the VNC client running on the target machine/s.
Let us know how you get on with it.

There's always been people requesting fluxbox--it'll almost certainly be on the CD. We might as well drop blackbox since the two are so similar.
I don't run fluxbox though, so you guys are gonna have to generate some nice default configs or something. I have blackbox on my openbsd zaurus, but that's not quite gonna cut it. I know jayeola uses flux a lot though I'm sure his setup is pretty text-oriented. ;)
graveman or gnomebaker will probably be on the CD--not both though. In general I'd like to get away from the "2 applications in one category" thing...
I'd love to drop all the different image viewers and just use gqview... Any thoughts there?

Re: image viewers, gqview and eog are sufficient for me. I think eog is required by something...As for fluxbox, totally agree. If there's room for icewm, I'd love that too. It's pretty damn small. I believe somebody submitted a good default fluxbox config to the bugzilla a while back, might wanna look into that.
Thanks,
Stephen Clement |
