I tried the live CD and it looks pretty lean and mean, but I did notice an increase in speed. This did convince me to "upgrade" to my exisiting 30K to 40K via synaptic. I know 40K is not ready for prime time yet but I am willing to take a chance. After all I had been using BLAG 30K even before it was released. I hope 40K to be of the same high quality.
40k is still in alpha, but you've been around long enough, you should know what the alphas are like. :)
I don't want to ruin a DVD to burn the ~40K BLAG iso. It won't fit on the regular CD. I can either do it via synaptic or via qemu (use the iso image to boot from the psuedo CD-ROM device).
Which one would you suggest?
I really don't recommend a dist-upgrade of 30k->40k, unless you want to realllllly test things out. I don't know how that will go.
There is a 40k CD image that fits on one CD, so use that one. Boot up, run the installer, selecting "upgrade" when prompted.
After the CD upgrade is done, boot up and run:
apt-get -f install
That should bring you up to snuff.
