We are providing a computer for a childrens group (under 5's). I think it would be really good if their early interactions with computers could involve penguins as opposed to corporate floating red and yellow and ikky blues...
Does anyone know of Open Source Kids educational software for Linux that we can use? We've also been asked for computers for over 5's so I guess I'm asking about any Open Source kids software really.

It might be easier to list the software avilable for Windows that does what you want for kids if you know of any. Then perhaps we can have a look for the alternative Linux versions? It is how I am tending to get people away from Windows and onto Linux.

Would kind really rather not spend time finding (read 'buying') Windows software first.. kinda seems like counterproductive ;)
The best stuff I have seen in the past though consists of numbers and shapes games, getting something right kind of rewards the player with a big smiley or a cool tune. Simple things. Smiling penguins!! :?

Ah I figured you were coverting from Windows to Linux and would have Windows software. So nevermind what I said. No one in their right mind would buy any Windows software.
