I was hanging out on an irc channel and read a convo about someone worried about a geezer trying to muck about with his connection. A suggestion was made to listen to his port with `nc -l hostname 80`. I think that this would listen to activity on port 80. But if there was activity, what output would I expect to see? And if there was none.....?

You will need the netcat application installed to be able to use the nc command.
