|
|
hi
I have networked one printer fine . It is installed locally, and machines access remotely, it works well and was set up using the redhat gui config.
I am trying to set up another printer (on a non GUI machine), and have installed it on a machine, others can now see it, but print jobs arn't getting there.
I remember when config the first printer there was an option 'action>sharing' which you don't get in the text based config. I have spent all day messing around in /etc/cups/ trying to replicate hte successful printer settings, but to no avail.
this is the info on the server machine
| Code: |
system default destination: epsonnet
device for epsonnet: parallel:/dev/lp0
device for hpnetwork: ipp://localhost.localdomain:631/printers/hpnetwork
epsonnet accepting requests since Jan 01 00:00
hpnetwork accepting requests since Jan 01 00:00
printer epsonnet is idle. enabled since Jan 01 00:00
printer hpnetwork is idle. enabled since Jan 01 00:00

and here is some info from a client machine:
| Code: |
scheduler is running
system default destination: epsonnet
device for epson: ipp://localhost.localdomain:631/printers/epson
device for epsonnet: lpd://192.168.1.50/epsonnet
device for epsonnet@server.decoy: ipp://server.decoy:631/printers/epsonnet
epson not accepting requests since Jan 01 00:00 -
epsonnet accepting requests since Jan 01 00:00
epsonnet@server.decoy accepting requests since Jan 01 00:00
printer epson disabled since Jan 01 00:00 -
printer epsonnet now printing epsonnet-4. enabled since Jan 01 00:00
printer epsonnet@server.decoy is idle. enabled since Jan 01 00:00

which seems to have a weird thing going on with epsonnet - its listed twice but it is on the same machine.hmmmm.
any help TOTALLY appreciated :-)
thanks
btw in the printer manager it says' network busy, down or unreachable' so it must be something to do with security settings, but i have tried loads...

its working now. for some reason it wasn't happy with using LPD from clients, if i used IPP instead and put the path as'printers/epsonnet' (rather than 'epsonnet' in LPD ) then it finds it.
so ther you go...
