Debian has started a fork of cdrecord since it's author has been a general pain to many developers for years now.

They have asked fedora guys to help out as well, which they most likely will.

Well, that's part of the idea.

If you do a search for "Jörg Schilling" you'll see that he's been driving other developers batty for years (including guys like Linus himself). So this change is a nice fresh start that will hopefully allow cd burning software development in gnulinux to follow more typical development processes (instead of endless argument over non-tech issues).

I haven't made an RPM of it yet, but I was able to build cdrkit easily enough. It needs cmake and libcap-devel to build.

I think you'll see something similar as to when X.org branched from Xfree86. Basically a lot of fresh energy.

cdrdao seems to work fine for me. It's the *first* time I've been able to erase and burn Cd media since I've had this laptop. Don''t know if there are any gui front-ends for it though.
