I couldn't agree more and all thanks to the Republican Party, the Religious Right and religious people in general. All you need to do is wrap yourself in the American flag, drag out the subject of gay marriage, put it on the ballot for inclusion into the state constitution (just to remind people how evil it is), and the Religious Right and religious people will follow you anywhere. It doesn't matter what else might be going on (like the war in Iraq...where my son is at right now) that more directly affects the lives of their sons and daughters, or the extremely high level of corruption present during the last 6 years. No, suddenly that's a secondary concern (if it was a concern at all). Luckily, enough everyday people saw thru the hypocrisy, this past election cycle, allowing the Democratic Party to take back control of the House and Senate. Maybe things here in the States will improve for the better. One can only hope.

Just to be clear, I'd like to say that I despise George Bush and everything that he represents.

Probably off topic for this thread but I've been wanting to say this for a long time.

Not to mention how things might improve in other countries which are the victims of Republican foreign policy. But I'm not too sanguine about the Democratic Party. When I'm asked how I liked the results of the elections I say that I'm glad that the Republicans lost but I'm not all that happy that the Democrats won. Don't expect them to have the political courage or will to do what should be done. The best that can be said about them is that they are not the Republicans.
