Ok. I've rolled the first blag30k alpha. It is available on the ftp server at:
ftp://ftp.blagblagblag.org/pub/BLAG/linux/30000/en/iso/BLAG-29999.00001.iso
a79867bba8d560cd2d34ecf0d389c794 BLAG-29999.00001.iso
It is totally un-tested alpha. Only run this on a test machine that you don't have any important data on.
Let me know how it goes...I haven't tested it meself yet... ;)

Well, I am still installing but one thing that buggs me is that I could not find gphoto anywhere in the list of packages to install. I think people need a digital camera program. I also noticed the same problem when I tested out fedora core 3 a couple days gao.

Well, I got some bad news. I am not sure if it is the cdrw disc I am using but the install always excites abnomally at the end of transferring the install image to the hard drive. Let me know if anyone else has this problem.

I'm downloading it now.
I have seen this issue when I try to install FC3 on an older test machine of mine.
Don't really know what it is. I'll let you know how this install works.

gthumb is now what is used for digital cameras. They removed gtkam and gqview. I really like gqview...
I have been able to use gthumb to transfer fotos from a nikon camera with no prob.
Haven't seen the exiting abnormally, but uh, I've been working on some other stuff...

I have the same problem, note also CD passes install verification procedure.

I'll attempt an install tomorrow and let you know how it goes in various attempts. The only downside so far:
| Code: | $ wget ftp://ftp.blagblagblag.org/pub/BLAG/linux/30000/en/iso/BLAG-29999.00001.iso
--06:11:32-- ftp://ftp.blagblagblag.org/pub/BLAG/linux/30000/en/iso/BLAG-29999.00001.iso
=> `BLAG-29999.00001.iso'

The blag server was really slow for a bit because it was hosting the full indymedia database (mysql), which is huge.
I have just moved this database to another system (dual opterons, 8 gigs ram...) so the blag server should be much faster now. :)

I believe it may be a hardware issue. My install was stopping with a kernel panic error. I put a new cdrom drive in and made it farther into install only to get an error about installer exiting abnormally.
It seems I can run/install some things but not other. After trying a few things I noticed that everything I can install is running 2.4 kernel. I'm not positive on this yet though.

The BLAG29999.00001 installer is definitely broken in both graphical and text mode. It didn't really give any errors on any of the consoles though, so I don't know what's busted. I'll work on it some more...
Also, I've started to roll in the FC3 updates, so the next CD image should be quite a lot better...

Agreed. All I can add to the report of what's happening is that it's not after the 'transferring install image to hard drive' stage. It blows up right after the 'preparing RPM transaction' stage, but it's easy to mistake since that happens right after the install image is transferred and goes by somewhat quickly.

The orinoco drivers are included.
orinoco_cs.ko orinoco.ko orinoco_pci.ko orinoco_plx.ko orinoco_tmd.ko
may get you started. ;) Or use the Menu->System Tools->Network Device Control to set them up.
-Jeff
P.S. Kernel modules for the 2.6 kernel end in .ko For kernel 2.4 they end in .o
