I'm back home in the UK at the moment, and I'm wanting to kick Windoze of my Mum's pc and replace it with you-know-what :)

Problem is that she's got one of these horrid Alcatel Speedtouch modems, which connects via USB. Are these easy to set up with Blag?

Cheers

Martin

Oh boy. I have packaged speedtouch stuff before and dag has some packages. I believe they are working fine, but haven't used them in a long time. Anyone else?

Check the blag archives for *speedtouch* or http://dag.wieers/com/packages

If you need it built for a special release/kernel let me know and i'll see if i can get it built.

hello -

i am trying to get a speedtouch modem working with BLAG too, but sofar i haven't been successfull in getting the pc to talk to the modem. Since BLAG is based on FC1 i have tried the instructions given on this website http://www.4p8.com/eric.brasseur/speedbundle_fedora.html

the instructions here do not make use of the kernel module, which it deliberately states has to be removed, but after making and installing the package the firmware is not uploaded to the modem, and the device is not accessible.

Is there any reason that something that works for FC1 does not work for BLAG?

And if i install the kernel module and compile the kernel with that module, which additional packages should i install?

hope someone can help me out,

mark.

I don't have a speedtouch, so I can't answer. In general if it works under FC1 it should work fine under BLAG10k. BLAG has a newer kernel than the original one in FC1.

You /may/ want to try out the BLAG-29k alpha. I believe it has the speedtouch stuff all built into it (but can't confirm it).
