When is it more appropriate to use synaptic or apt-get? Is the better former for a full package install?

I think Synaptic is just the gui for apt so they are more or less the same thing right? Both install the necessary dependencies for you.
I just use apt because it is easier and alot quicker it seems. I think the gui is good for browsing and seeing whats on offer though. I am not sure how to browse to see whats on offer using command line so I can't really comment on that.

Synaptic is just a GUI for apt-get. Synaptic runs apt-get to perform it's functions. Sooo, if you want to click, use synatpic. If you want to type, apt-get. :)
