Hi All,
I need to know how to change a file association. Somehow, and I'm not sure why this happened, my .ods extension (Open Document Spreadsheet from Open Office) seems to be considered a "Java Archive".

Initially, the icon for an .ods is the proper one for a spreadsheet, but if I select the file, the icon changes to a Java icon.

I double clicking brings up a warning message. I need to right click, and select "open with Spreadsheet".

If I right click on the file, and select the "open with" tab, the items listed are Archive Manager, Java, and Spreadsheet. I can remove spreadsheet if I want, but can not remove the other two.

I think this may be related to some experimentation I did a few months ago with Archiving. I have been living with this problem for some time, but am now ready to fix it.

So.....any suggestions? How do I make the ".ods" associated only with the Spreadsheet program (Open Office).

Thanks,
Mike

You should be able to right-click on a file, select properties from the menu, choose the open with tab and then click the radial button for the program which you wish to use. The archive manager and the slelected (default) option from this menu cannot be deleted, the others can.

If this isn't happening for you, could you tell us which version of OpenOffice.org you're using and exactly what happens when you right click a file.
