Hi,
I want to use Skype, or better still, a Linux alternative. What if anything can you recommend?

I see that I can download a version of Skype for Fedora 7 (from Skype.com)

Thanks,
Mike

Skype is evil and they hire a person to listen in on every single cuztomer. Just kidding. maybe. anyway, it's proprietary.

Try exploring some of the software fones that do SIP or IAX2 such as ekiga or kiax. http://wiki.blagblagblag.org/BLASTERISK is something you can use to test with. The free long distance to land/cellfones thing is rarely going nowadays there. You can call other softphones though or get some cheap service somewhere. Lots of info at:

What I really want/need, is Video and voice. Skype and Yahoo IM for Windoze has this feature. I want to be able to use this at home or on the road.

Is there any way to send video (from WEB CAM) with or without voice? When I'm working, it would be very helpful to be able to show a live shot.

I have an older Creative WEB CAM. What program can I use it with?

Mike

My Creative WEB CAM seems to work fine with Ekiga. However, I have some audio issues. Can't seem to record sound.

Thanks, I'll be experimenting with Ekiga.
