boy, that was fast.... I' m wgetting these images here:- http://ks355011.kimsufi.com/90000/en/iso/ as I seem to be getting very poor download speeds in the UK. Dunno why. Anyways, expect a new mirror once I install 90k.

The BLAG ISP (FRII) was actively watching the forum thread with traceroutes and such, but closed the ticket when they didn't see any more info. fyi.
(add it to *that* thread, not here)

riverplate is my newest partition, currently (as of a few hours ago) dedicated to 89K. bocajuniors is my external drive-based system, running BLAGHEAD: I plug it in and boot off of it instead of Windoze at my workplace. My 70K system (upgrading to 89K shortly) is patagonia. I believe in localization. :^)

I took tons more screen shots. Installation went fine but I was unable to log into either my non-root account or as root via gnome.This is a long version of the install.
=== installation ===
- Grab net install iso image for 90k [very slow for me in the UK so I put them here also http://ks355011.kimsufi.com/90000/en/iso/]
- Hit enter once you can boot from the cd.
- Select url as an installation method
- The url is ftp://blagblagblag.org/pub/blag/linux/90000/en/os/i386/images
- Carry on the installation as per a usual install
- Good news is that partitions can be encrypted simply. Better encrypt your swap as well if you are going to encrypt ~/home and you use a laptop.
- The first time around I went with the default packages and anaconda complained of a package conflict. I think that it was between gnome and blag logos or some desktop-logo thing. Anaconda also complained of the repo, some foo.xml issue. (Sketchy details as I was very tired at the time). The second time around I went for a base install, removing everything apart from "base system". Anaconda still proceeded to install 622 packages. grrr
- After the install box booted, hardware detected and I as presented with a snazzy gdm login.
- Was not able to use gdm to login at all, either as root or jayeola. I used a virtual term to login and this confirmed that my UK key map was correct.
- Selinux was disabled so it wasn't the package from the nice chaps from the NSA that was locking me out.
- After a number of failed log in attempts I've rolled back to 70k.
=== things to note ===
- Use the shell, Luke! There's a fully functional VT on VT/3 [ctrl]+[fn]+[alt] on my kb. Use that to ssh to other servers. very handy ;-)
- print screen. [shift]+[print screen] on my kb. All Screen shots are saved in /tmp/anaconda-screenshots. Use a VT and scp them to another box.
- Install log. /tmp/anaconda.log (or summink like that). Useful for Jebba if an installation fails

Per IRC conversation, it appears he forgot to add the user. Doh!
