in older Linux versions I knew how to take a look on the Tasks (processes) running, the way I could kill them when they were hung or malfunctioning... even to customize their priorities though the desktop to suit the needs...

How it can be done in 160K...?

In menu-->system there is an application installed by xfce-goodies. Don't know its name in English but in French it is: "gestionnaire des tâches".

I've used "htop" to do what you describe, but I'm not sure whether or not it's provided by BLAG.
