I hope someone can help me.

I'm not able to eject disk tray after taking away a CD/DVD and close it. I have an old Dell Inspiron 8200, has two cd drives, one for CD and one for DVD, neither one is able to eject the tray after close it (only when I put a CD for the first time in the session). The eject command, as simple user or as super user don't work, even to force it is impossible.

I know this is like take care of a corpse, but maybe some one knows what is happening. Surely we'll keep in touch during a long time and maybe some day blag will come back from dead.

I remember having something like that with XFCE but it was with the USB devices. I replaced the xfce manager by gdm and all went fine after. Don't know if it will help you.
