BLAG 9000 series is based on Red Hat 9.
The 10000 series, which doesn't have a stable release, will be based on Fedora Core 1. Development versions have been made.
BLAG 20000 will be based on Fedora Core 2. Fedora Core 2 hasn't been released, but test1 has been released. A development version of FC2 has been made of test1, but is unreleased. Kernel 2.6 will come with 20000.
There is a roadmap here:

Ok. It takes forever to upload these things. ;)
Development versions may not be very easily upgraded (e.g. hand tweaking with rpm/apt).
When I something a bit closer to final, I'll upload it. Probably under
ftp://ftp.blagblagblag.org/pub/BLAG/developers
or thereabouts. ;)
Thanks,
-Jeff

A spare partition will suffice. BLAG only needs a coule of GB to install everything. Not sure about there but here you can pick up an old 486 for next to nothing and it works fine with BLAG. It won't exactly be the fastest thing ever but it works.
